Music and Movement Classes are designed to give children an opportunity to express themselves through music on various levels.

Music and Movement 1 is designed for children ages 6-12 months. This class gives caregiver and child an opportunity to share a meaningful and lasting experience. We will explore songs and activities that are age appropriate and enjoyable.

Music and Movement 2 is geared for children 1-2. Children at this age are becoming more independent. This class is still geared for children and their caregiver. The activities focus on hand-eye coordination, taking turns, following simple instruction, team-work and self-expression.

Music and Movement 3 is for children ages 3-4. Children are much more independent at this age. Caregivers are still encouraged to attend class and participate in activities. Activities are more game oriented at this age. Themes of development are continued from M& M 2.

Music and Movement 4 is the final level of M&M class. Geared for children ages 5-7 years, this class explores more abstract body movement expression along with traditional song games and other rhythmic activities.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered on an individual basis. Please inquire at the front desk for a form. MAD CAP will match the student with a private instructor. Rhythm Band 1-4 (RB1,2,3, or 4)

The rhythm band classes are much like the Music and Movement classes but focus on playing classroom percussion instruments. Working in conjunction with the developmental age of the child, each level offers the student a chance to hone gross and fine motor skills along with the opportunity for individual expression, learning about team-work and beginning musical skills. Caregivers are encouraged to join in the classes with their child, especially in RB 1&2.

Rhythm Band 1 is for 2 and 3 year olds and their caregiver. Rhythm Band 1 introduces toddlers to the wonderful world of rhythm instruments. They start with simply using their body and move into instruments that shake and begin to use drums.

Rhythm Band 2 teaches 3 to 5 year olds to follow directions, work together and play simple rhythms and patterns on various percussion instruments. Children will understand the importance of playing together as a group. Children will have the opportunity to experiment with the various sounds of instruments. Not only will children learn to play music, but also they will be able to incorporate music into other areas.

Rhythm Band 3 is the most advanced, and is for children ages 6 to 8 years old. Children will have the opportunity to play several different rhythm instruments in a very musical way. They will learn that each instrument may play a different rhythm at the same time. This allows them to understand the concept of harmony.
